Welcome. AKA Runtimerror or Lady of Dorkness, I am into computers, art, music, web development and online gaming. I knit and crochet when I'm not at my computer.
A traditional symbol of spring, all parts of the Lily of the Valley are highly poisonous, including the red berries which may be attractive to children..

I'm back after 2 days without Internet access. I've never felt so cut off from the world! It's something I won't take for granted again the way I have in the past.
Finished my second neon yellow fun-fur scarf. The photos can't properly convey the incredible garishness of this yarn. It practically glows in the dark. My mom saw the first one I made and it was love at first sight. The second went to a friend in Sunday School who simply HAD to have it!

One of my favorite examples of basement-dweller podcasting, I really love the guys over at Jupiter Broadcasting. These guys are even geekier than me, and that's really saying something. In last week's STOked podcast they discussed the upcoming changes to the PVP system in Star Trek online.
In other news, I'm making progress on the Tubey sweater I'm working on. I've got the shrug section completed, and am beginning work now on the main body.
I really love the unique construction of this sweater. It's 2 knitted tubes which are joined together and it looks amazing so far. I'm using acrylic yarn for this. I've seen other projects done with nicer yarn, but the more upscale yarns don't seem to be able to retain their shape as well
as sturdy, dependable acrylic. Red Heart and Caron 1lb is what I'm using for this project.
I knitted the shrug part on size 10 circular needles going to size 8's for the wristband ribbing. I'm knitting the body with one large size 8 circular. You can try on this sweater as you go, which makes it easy
to make changes for a better fit as you go along. I'm going to include short rows through the bust. It will really be nice to have a custom-made sweater that isn't too short in the front and too long in the back for a change!

SWTOR Update: Last week I was questing in Dromond Kass on my Jedi Assassin during my guild's !!!Empire Night!!! when I came upon a sight that stopped me cold in my tracks. Now, I have done that particular quest at least 3 times before, once in the beta, and twice on other toons, but all other times the control panel
was normal sized and not, well, so sewing-buttony looking. I was imagining the following conversation in the quest development department:
Department Lackey: Sir, people are complaining that they can't find the control panel button to finish this quest.
Head Content Writer: How big does the blasted button have to be before these morons can find it???

I've spent a good part of the day cleaning and vacuuming, and investigating a new technique I haven't run across before, Tapestry Crochet. I first learned of this new method of crochet by checking out Crafty Andy's website.

I'm going to be a beta tester for the new Star Wars The Old Republic game which will be launched on December 20, 2011 and I'm so excited!
Unlike the other two MMORPG's I've played in the past, this time I plan to keep notes on my impressions and experiences as I go from being a complete newb to an experienced player.
I'm in the second wave of beta testers and will be playing it this weekend. Some people from my Warcraft guild have already played in the first wave, and from their comments I'm eager to dive in and see for myself.
The main tank in my raid group said that this is the game he's been waiting for since he first got a computer. That really made me sit up and take notice, and I have the game downloaded and ready to go when they send me my beta code.
Random Notes
Mouth of the Lava River Cave
I stumbled across a journal entry I made some years ago while searching for something on an old hard drive. Written in October 2003, it relates my experiences on a field trip
to the Lava River Caves here in Central Oregon with my son's 2nd grade class.
October 3, 2003
Today I went on a field trip with my youngest son Brian's 2nd grade class to the Lava River Cave 12 miles SE of Bend here in beautiful Central Oregon.
The day started out sunny and mild with temperatures in the mid-forties climbing rapidly up into the low 70's. This is going to be so much fun! What a great day for a field trip!
I've arrived at the school and am in the classroom 15 minutes before departure time as specified in the parental instructions sent home yesterday. Brian has 2 teachers here in 2nd grade. One is a slim and vigorously energetic blond who doesn't look much older than 20, and the other is - my goodness! pregnant, 12 weeks along, I find out later.
